Laura Leighe Stockton

Laura Leighe Stockton

Voice, Piano

For 11 years, Laura has been a private vocal instructor in Los Angeles, OKC, and Online. With a Degree in Vocal Music Education from Oklahoma University and certification in the "Singing with Ease" (Seth Riggs S.L.S) method, she teaches from the perspective of someone who's voice and life has been changed, strengthened, and brought to it’s full healthiness, range, and ability through the holy grail of techniques.

As a piano instructor and songwriter, she has developed a simple system of teaching music theory and chording to her clients, which is ideal for vocalists and songwriters to learn to accompany themselves, as well as for the beginner or intermediate pianist to learn a combination of traditional sight-reading and reading / composing chords on their own.

As an International Billboard hit singer/songwriter, Laura L.'s hit single "Boys Just Wanna Have Fun" hit #5 on the UK Music Week Pop/ Dance Charts, and #27 on the US Billboard Dance charts in the same week! Laura Leighe was also a finalist in the 2017 Unsigned Only International Music & Songwriting Competition, with 2 of her songs making the top 12 of their genres out of 6,000 submitted.

Voice

I have over thirty years experience in teaching students how to grow, improve and keep their voice.
The daughter of a big band leader, I have been around music since birth. I studied the Bel Canto method in High School and graduated from UCLA in Music Education. I did my masters study in Vocal Performance at WSU. I started studying opera and art song in high school. I was involved in musical theater at UCLA. I toured nationally with a folk-rock group as one of the featured soloists. Michael Omartian, who became a legendary producer, was our composer and arranger. I started my vocal studio when raising a family in Santa Barbara, CA. I taught vocal training at a community college at the time. I later taught at Green River Community College in Auburn, WA for four years. Through the years, I have helped students of all ages, skills and ambitions attain their goals. One of my recent students, Lana Condor, starred in a Netflix movie, "To all the Boys I've Loved Before", which has been enormously successful. I helped her gain a great deal of self-confidence through vocal lessons with me. I directed musical theater for seven years, working with performers of all ages. I was the vocal coach for such productions as "Seven Brides for Seven Brothers", "Annie", "Peter Pan", Pirates of Penzance", to name a few. I bring to my students experience, a successful track record, thorough knowledge of the voice and a great love for what I do!!
