Dan Weinstein
Dan Weinstein is one of the busiest and least jaded professional musicians in LA. He plays the entire history of jazz from dixieland to swing to bee-bop to contemporary. Dan toured with The Jackson 5 in 1976-77, after which he began working with numerous salsa and cumbia groups in SoCal. Dan also worked and toured with Ray Charles' Big Band in 1984. Since then, he has recorded and performed internationally and in almost every genre of popular music: credits include Aretha Franklin, Gerald Wilson, Mary Wilson, Brian Wilson, Bobby Caldwell, Israel ``Cachao`` Lopez, Larry Harlow, Jerry Lee Lewis, La Vern Baker, Neil Diamond, Christina Aguilera, the Emotions, the Olympics, the Rivingtons, Ernie Andrews, and hundreds more. His soundtrack credits include films The Nightmare Before Christmas, The Whole Nine Yards, Drumline, Robots, Horton Hears a Who, Hancock and the Italian Job and many more. He has taught music lessons for the past 15 1/2 years at Santa Monica Music Center and today can be found playing Western Swing fiddle with The Lucky Stars and trombone & vocals with Candy Jacket Jazz Band among others.
